Seaton Carew
A series of images to do with the north east. Im really lucky to live where i live in the north east; a ten minute drive from the coast line. A huge aspect of the north east is its coast line!
So much of the north easts famous industry can be found along our coast line. At one time, like many other sea side towns in Britain, this town while have been booming. As appose to showing the run down parts of this town however, ives chosen to just focus of the bright and tacky signs found around its front street. Even though this town is run down and a lot of places are closed, it surprised me how busy it still gets on a day when the sun is out.
So here is just a select few images taken at Seaton Carew, a north east sea side town at near Hartlepool. Although I haven't really captured images of people at the sea side, i chose to focus on saturated "tacky" colours in the images, i was inspired for this idea by the work of Martin Parr.
The striking pink colour is really what makes this photo for me. I also really like the way the eye of the viewer is drawn in the direction of the ridges of the shutter. These ridges give quite an abstract look to the image.
Im pleased i was able to capture the old couple walking together in this image as i think it adds interest to the image as the eye is drawn to more than just one place; the bight shutter, the ice-cream and the people.
This is probably my favourite image out of this small selection i have chosen to present. I think the way i have used the flash really adds to the contrast of colours and focus on the ice cream cone.
I like the abstract angle I've taken this image at. The bright white and pink sign alongside the dirty pavement creates a really interesting contrast.
The contrast of colours between the sign and the blue sky is what i think makes this image successful. Capturing more of a close up of the back of the persons head could have added to the interest of this image and would really have shown my influence from Martin Parr.
